Cooperation between PKU and UCLA dates back to 1980. In 2006, the two universities joined the 10 + 10 Alliance, a partnership between ten of China’s premier public research universities and the ten campuses of the University of California system. Under this framework, the PKU- UCLA Joint Research Institute for Science and Engineering was established in 2009. Academic communication and personnel exchanges between the two sides are further enhanced.

When Prof. Wang Enge attended the 17th Annual Presidents Meeting of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities(APRU)in June 2013, he talked with Dr. Gene Block about further cooperation between PKU and UCLA in all fields. Prof. Wang Enge’s visit of this year and the signing of the agreement deepen friendship between the two universities, which provide channels for direct student exchanges.

In addition, during the Annual Meeting of APS, Prof. Wang Enge also participated in the recruitment briefing session of the School of Physics of PKU so as to attract accomplished overseas scholars to teach in PKU.
