Vice President Li Yansong declared in his speech that it was a great honor for PKU to host the three-day high-level workshop, which was the first of its kind. He also believed that the exhibition would allow the Chinese audience to understand how people in Brazil have explored the mystery of nature and protected it against environmental degradation. Vice President Li also talked about the friendly ties and close collaboration between the people of both countries.

Professor Lafer extended his gratitude for PKU’s gracious support. He stated that the joint endeavor is of utmost importance to both countries. As the former Foreign Minister of Brazil, Professor Lafer exclaimed that it was “close to his heart” that the symposium and exhibition coincided with the celebration of the 40thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

After the ribbon-cutting session, all guests present toasted to the success of the exhibition before proceeding to tour the public display.
