On November 8th, 2014, a delegation from the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) led by Jeffrey Drazen, Editor-in-chief of NEJM, and Christopher Lynch, Vice President of NEJM Group visited Peking University (PKU). They were received at Linhuxuan by PKU President Wang Enge.
An agreement signing ceremony then commenced at the North Wing Lecture Hall of the PKU Library. Yang Ke, Executive Vice President of PKU and PKU Health Science Center began with an introduction of the distinguished guests.
PKU President Wang, in his welcoming remarks, expressed his gratitude and outlined the development of medical education in PKU. This was followed by a brief speech by Wang Yu, Director of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Wang and Drazen affixed their signatures on the agreement that called for greater cooperation between the two sides, including the possibility of NEJM collaborating with PKU to roll out a Chinese-language publication.

This was followed by Drazen’s speech, who recounted the story of NEJM’s inception and subsequent development. In 1812, a doctor named John Collins Warren established the magazine and wrote its first piece. His mission was to uncover the truth and publish it as clear as possible. With this idea behind its work, the magazine soon became well received around the world.Lynch took the stage after Drazen, and elaborated on the direction that NEJM Group is currently heading towards.
