On November 5th, 2014, a delegation led by former President of India Dr A.P.J Abdul visited PKU. PKU President Wang Enge received the guests at the Tan Siu Lin Center for International Studies, along with Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, CaiHongbin, Dean of Guanghua School of Management and other professors.
Wang first extended warm welcome to the guests. He gave the guests an introduction of PKU, and mentioned that PKU enjoys a high ranking in the QS World University Rankings, with Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics all ranking amongst the world’s top twenty. He also introduced emerging disciplines in PKU such as interdisciplinary scientific studies. He noted that the Association for Indian Studies in PKU had worked hard in strengthening the relationship between China and India. Finally Wang expressed heartfelt thanks to Kalam for his support of the Beijing Forum.

Kalam spoke highly of the scientific achievements that PKU had attained. He said that India was also making great efforts in interdisciplinary scientific and sustainable development. He expressed his desire to enhance student exchanges and push forward closer cooperation between China and India.
After the brief meeting, Kalam and Wang proceeded to the Central Hall of Tan Siu Lin Center for International Studies, where both delivered speeches to the audience present. Both Kalam and Wang noted that cooperation should be strengthened not only in education but also in culture and other fields. Kalam was also conferred the title of Honorary Professor of Peking University.
