On March 27, 2015, Karim Masimov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, accompanied by a group of delegates from Kazakhstan, visited Peking University (PKU). He was well received at the Langrun Garden by Lin Jianhua, President of PKU and Lin Yifu, Dean Emeritus of the National School of Development.
During the meeting, President Lin warmly welcomed Prime Minister Masimov’s visit to the National School of Development and expressed hope to enhance cooperation between the two countries. He said that PKU will celebrate its 120 anniversary in 2018, which was a very important year for the school. He also explained the great contributions PKU has made for the country.

In his first year in China, Prime Minister Masimov studied at both PKU and Beijing Language and Culture University. He praised PKU as a world-famous university. Prime Minister Masimov also said that he met with President Xi and held in-depth discussions about the relationship between the two countries, and he suggested setting up an academy of Chinese studies for the continent in Astana. He hoped to establish a partnership with PKU for more educational resources.
President Lin responded that China needed to further study and better understand Central Asia and the areas alongside the Silk Road and that Chinese institutions needed to pay greater efforts in evolving their relationships with Central Asia.
After the meeting, the Prime Minister and delegates visited the Langrun Garden accompanied by Dean Emeritus Lin Yifu. Lin introduced the National School of Development to the Prime Minister, and then they visited the teaching building of the Beijing International MBA (BiMBA) program.
