On May 22, 2015, a delegation led by Robert Conn, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kavli Foundation, visited Peking University (PKU). Lin Jianhua, President of Peking University (PKU) extended a warm welcome to the guests and met them at the guest room of the General Office Building.
During the talk, President Conn explained that neuron science research techniques are rapidly advancing, and that it is receiving more and more attention in the United States. He suggested to President Lin that it would be wise to invest in this field, and Lin showed a great interest in this frontier and nodded in agreement.
Lin expressed his appreciation to Mr. Conn for the Foundation’s investment in PKU in recent years, and Mr. Conn showed his appreciation for the help that PKU had given to The Kavli Foundation over the years. One of the guests added that there are many schools that have advanced astronomy-related research instruments, but PKU has well-organized institutions, which gives it a large advantage. Due to those reasons, The Kavli Foundation was looking forward to deepening its cooperation and enhancing its communication with PKU.
President Lin said that PKU over the past three decades had undergone dramatic changes and that resources have become increasingly abundant over this time. He continued to explain that PKU would make good use of its resources and competitiveness to provide better education for the young generation and to achieve even greater academic accomplishments.
Towards the end of the meeting, President Lin presented the guests with souvenirs and then they took group photos together.
