On March 22, 2016, a delegation of universities from the Czech Republic visited Peking University (PKU). The delegation of rectors included Dr. Josef Hynek from the University of Hradec Kralove; Dr. Miroslav Ludwig from the University of Pardubice; Dr. Zdenek Kus from the Technical University of Liberec. Li Yansong, the Vice President of PKU, along with professors from Department of Information Management and the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering received the guests at the west hall of Linhuxuan.
Vice President Li extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests from the Czech Republic. Then, the three rectors made brief introductions of their universities, expressing their hope that the schools could collaborate more closely and enhance information exchange by multiple approaches. As the cooperation between China and Europe is expanding quickly, it is time that strengthened mutual respect and understanding to deepen the friendship and partnership between PKU and Czech Universities. The Master’s and Ph.D. programs were specifically mentioned, indicating a possible way to start long-lasting and deeper cooperation.
After that, Professor Gao Yiqin, Dean of the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering (CCME), introduced the basic information of CCME. CCME is a large college with 135 faculties and various research centers. Meanwhile, CCME is active in international exchanges and communication. There are eight short-term exchange programs with universities all around the world, and the college is looking forward to starting long-term programs with universities abroad and getting global students.
Professor Xuyang from Department of Information Management (DIM) also talked about his department, which focused on library science and information system and management. For further context and detailed discussion, he welcomed the guests to pay a visit to DIM after the formal meeting.
At last, President Li concluded that he hoped the further cooperation would be comprehensive and open, and universities could act as important bridges to satisfy students’ and professors’ desires to collaborate and exchange.
After exchanging presents with Vice President Li, the rectors were invited to pay a visit to CCME, DIM, and the library.
