On March 23, 2016, Christopher Cripps, Dean of International and European Affairs at Paris Sciences et Lettres Research University (PSL), and Jing Wang, Head of Asian Affairs at PSL, led a delegation to Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, Vice-President of PKU, Zheng Ruqing, Deputy Director of the Office of International Relations, and other faculty members received the guests at Linhuxuan.
Vice President Li began the discussion by sincerely welcoming the delegation, in which some old friends of PKU were also included. He emphasized that as PKU prepares to celebrate its 120th anniversary, support from cooperating schools was welcomed.

Dean Cripps first thanked Vice-President Li for the warm greetings, and indicated that this was his second time to visit PKU. Then he pointed out that PSL, as an integrated research university, was undergoing many changes. He briefly introduced the background of PSL’s foundation, and he explained that PSL was the result of integrating 25 higher education and research institutes from around France, which included science, engineering, social sciences, and arts. He explained that creating a comprehensive university was an important goal in PSL foundation. Their aim was to provide sufficient research opportunities for every student. So far, they had established a cooperation network with top universities around the world, while still working on new programs, seeking cooperation with PKU.

Subsequently, Vice-President Li said that PKU also underwent great efforts to become a comprehensive university. In addition, he stated that PKU has been continually encouraging students to apply for PSL. He expressed his desire to enhance collaboration on high level research for students and professionals. Delighted to know that Dean Cripps would come to China again in June, he hoped that a more detailed cooperation agreement could be reached.

Paris Sciences et Lettres - PSL Research University received government approval in July 2010 and brought together some of France's most prestigious and internationally respected academic and research institutes in a broad range of disciplines including engineering, chemistry, medicine, economics, management, the humanities, and the performing arts.
