University of Tokyo’s Vice President Visits PKU

On the afternoon of May 5, 2016, Haneda Masashi, Vice President of the University of Tokyo along with other officials visited Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, received the guests and had a brief discussion on the future collaboration between the two universities.

Before the meeting, Mr. Li first warmly welcomed the arrival of Haneda Masashi. Having showed his pleasure for the trip, Mr. Haneda also expressed his willingness to develop multiple ways for further communication with PKU, such as exchanges of scholars and professors.

Mr. Li then mentioned that both sides should actively promote the “CAMPUS Asia” program, which pools the resources of both universities to establish more student exchange programs. Mr. Haneda agreed with the idea, noting that PKU and University of Tokyo should not only have bilateral cooperation, but also the multilateral exchange programs.  

Mr. Haneda also addressed that boosting the communication between PKU and University of Tokyo would foster improvement in the Sino-Japanese relationship. During this meeting, both sides reached a consensus regarding student exchange programs and the “Peking University Day” to be held at the University of Tokyo.
