On April 16, 2016, the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), and the Peking University Office of International Relations and Student Career Center co-organized the first job fair for foreign students in China.
As soon as the job fair began, the hall was filled by hundreds of students talking with exhibitors and recruiters. The recruitment companies included BMW China Services Ltd.; China Railway Construction Corporation (International) Limited; Sinohydro Corporation Limited; Beijing Foreign Enterprise Human Resources Service Co., Ltd. (FESCO); the Global Youth Leaders Laboratory; Capital Normal University; and the Central Compilation & Translation Bureau (CCTB), as well as many other well-known enterprises. The more than 20 companies and organizations were seeking to fill jobs in the fields of engineering, communications, commerce, education, and more.
To get an in-depth understanding of the needs and feelings of the participating enterprises and candidates, the Office of International Relations student press corps interviewed several of the employers and candidates. Most of the candidates were interested in internship positions. The BMW recruitment staff said the jobs they offered required strong language skills or technical skills. Other companies and recruiters said that they require strong foreign language abilities and professional knowledge for their internship and employment opportunities. According to the students interviewed, many of them want to work in China, and they hope to lay a good foundation for future work through an internship in China.
