On the afternoon of April 22, 2016, a delegation of Hiroshima University visited Peking University (PKU). The delgation included Mitsuo Ochi, President of Hiroshima University; Toshiyuki Sato, Vice President of Hiroshima University, and Li Junyang, Vice Director of the Hiroshima Centre in Beijing, and the delegation was received by Wu Zhipan, Vice President of PKU; Zheng Ruqing, Vice Director of the PKU Office of International Relations, and Ding Ye, officer in the PKU Office of International Relations.
Mr. Ochi firstly showed his gratitude for the warm welcome of Mr. Wu Zhipan, stressing that the mission of coming is to further mobilize the collaboration between the two universities in the area of academic research and students exchanging. Mr. Wu briefly introduced PKU to the guests. Given the fact that there are not many Japanese students on the campus, he sincerely hoped for more cooperation with Hiroshima University, as well as more frequent students exchanging in the future.
Mr. Ochi then gave a brief introduction about Hiroshima University, noting that among its 15,000 students in total, the number of Chinese students studying there is the largest among the 1300 international students. He also mentioned the key disciplinary areas of Hiroshima University including medicine, physics, and education, looking forward to further communication with PKU starting from these subjects. Another purpose of the visit to China, Mr. Ochi explained, is to give a lecture at the “Ji Shui Tan Forum”, which is hosted by the Ji Shui Tan Hospital located in Beijing. Mr. Ochi is an expert in joints surgery, and he is now researching for new knee surgery methods for young people.
Mr. Toshiyuki Sato is an eminent scholar of Chinese history and literature. He gifted his works about Wang Xizhi and history of literature in Jin Dynasty to the PKU representatives.
After the short meeting, the delegation went on a campus tour inside PKU.
