On the afternoon of May 12th, 2016, a delegation of Université Sorbonne Paris Cité (USPC), visited Peking University (PKU). The USPC delegation included Jean-Yves Merindol, President of USPC; Sébastien Velut, Deputy Director for International Affairs at USPC; Gabrielle Costa, Policy Officer for International Affairs and External Relations at USPC. Lin Jianhua, President of PKU; Li Yansong, Vice President of PKU, and professors from different departments and schools received the guests.
After extending warm welcome to the delegates, President Lin introduced members from PKU delegation. Then members of USPC delegation introduced themselves. After that, President Merindol made a detailed introduction about USPC, including its strategies, facts and figures, students number, and their educational experiences. President Lin was very impressed by the internationalizing research environment and campus life of USPC.
Then, after sharing the long history of the two higher education institutions cooperation, President Lin made a brief introduction of Peking University, including the number of students, faculties, and present research situation. President Lin also mentioned that PKU had a long history of cooperation with French universities, especially with Sciences Po, which is also one of the member universities of USPC.
After that, the two presidents discussed some detailed cooperation plans, including enhancement cooperation among hospitals, close communication between different faculties, such as engineering, school of languages, social sciences, dual-degree program, the framework of universities, and the mechanism of absorbing more talents and new professors.
At last, the two presidents signed an agreement of further cooperation and exchanged gifts.
